Booking Cancelled & Last Minute Disputes
Activity cancelled due to weather? Hotel overbooked? Finnish consumer law is strict, and you have rights.
Immediate Action Protocol
Request a "Cancellation Reason" in writing
You need an email or signed paper stating WHY it was cancelled (Weather, technical, etc.) for your insurance claim.
Refund vs. Rebooking
If the company cancels, they MUST offer a full refund. You are not obligated to accept a voucher, though rebooking for the next day is often the easiest path.
Disputes with Operators
If an operator refuses a refund for a service they did not provide, stay calm but firm. Mention the Kilpailu- ja kuluttajavirasto (KKV) — the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority.
Chargebacks
If you paid via Visa/Mastercard and the company is uncooperative, document the refusal and contact your bank immediately.
Weather Cancellations
Most tours (Huskies, Reindeer, Aurora) have a -30°C limit. If it is colder than this, the
operator may cancel for animal welfare or safety reasons. Check your booking's "Fine Print",
weather cancellations usually trigger a 100% refund, but they do NOT trigger "Compensation"
for missed time.
