The Cashless Society
You can go your entire trip without touching a physical Euro coin.
Cards are accepted everywhere. Even in a small tent cafe in the middle of a frozen lake, they will have a 4G card terminal.
Accepted Methods
Alipay is accepted in some Rovaniemi tourist shops and the airport, but do not rely on it in Levi or Saariselkä — check destination-specific payment notes in the Resort Finder.
Tipping Culture
Tipping is NOT expected.
Staff are paid fair living wages. If you pay by card, the machine might ask for a tip. It is perfectly polite to press "No Tip" or "0".
If you received exceptional service, rounding up the bill is appreciated (e.g., €55 -> €60).
ATMs (Otto)
Orange "Otto" machines are the official ATMs. They are rare. Usually one per village center, often inside or outside the K-Market — see the Supermarket Guide for likely ATM locations.
